Cloning SSDs

Thread needs solution

I have a Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB as my primary boot drive and am installing a new RevoDrive3 X2 PCI-E 480 GB and would like to clone my existing Samsung drive to the new PCI-E drive. Is this something that can readily be done or will I have to reinstall Windows, etc.?

William,

In the past Acronis had issues support the Revodrivse, probably because of the PCI express interface, not sure. There is a risk that this newer version of ATI still has the issues. You'd have to try. Most importantly the recovery CD has to see the Revodrive.

William,

I agree with Pat, the PCI interface may be an issue. I just did an SSD to SSD clone between 2 SATA drives and TI performed admirably. Having said that I did a good bit of research and thouroughly read all the instructions in the manual as well as user post here on the forum before I performed the clone and I would attirute that with the success I had.

I would also say that if the app can see the RevoDrive you should be able to clone successfully. You will be astonished at how fast the actual transfer will occur if it will work for you. Do the research and give it a try. Would appreciate your posting back your results.
