Moving backup to a new larger drive

Thread needs solution

I am running out of room for backups on my old external hard drive (500 MB) and just bought a new 3TB WD external drive. How do I move my existing backup files to the new drive and modify my backup routines or should I just create new backup routines pointed at that drive? Can I make the new drive bootable?

I would not move the files as that could induce corruption. Keep them "as is" until they are too old and then delete.
You can disable the existing task by switching them to "do not schedule"

How to change a scheduled backup task to "Do Not Schedule".

How to enable or change a backup task schedule.

An easy way to create new tasks, you can clone each of the working tasks and then edit the cloned task changing the target and the scheuled settings, etd.
The task clone is from inside each task by
clicking the GearWheel,
click the OTHER option
click the Clone settings option.
Edit the resulting task and change the task name if needed as well as any of the configuration items
Be sure the new disk is connected during the task creation.

Aconis does not offer to make your 3TB bootable but it is possible via several 3rd party utiliites--if you are willing to split the disk into 2 partitons and make them MBR. A link i s available by clicking Signature link 1 below and browse to the index listing 4-D under MudCrab.

Edit: Hopefully your new tasks include the "Automatic cleanup" feature which I reference in earler postings.
Examples are listed in link 2, illustrations 11-Full, 11-Inc, 11-Dif , depending upon which type task being used.
