removing startup recovery feature takes forever...or just isn't working

Thread needs solution

I tried disabling the F11 startup recovery manager because I was going to have to reboot my machine a bunch and didn't want to deal with the delay. However it's been 30 minutes and it's just sitting at halfway to completion on the phase "Updating files in Acronis Secure Zone". I'm loathe to kill it and reboot lest it leaves my system in a bad state. Is it supposed to take a while? Is there a point at which I should just reboot anyway? I'm not sure if at this point it's already removed the recovery manager and is safe to restart...

Sounds like a hang to me.

ya I think so too, it's still going.....

The question is what to do now? Kill the process?

Left it on overnight, same thing. This thing isn't going anywhere. So am I going to totally screw my system if I reboot it at this stage?

Alright well I took the risk and rebooted and everything seems fine. Don't have the bootloader anymore and my machine boots alright.
