Cannot Open .TIB files

Thread needs solution

I created an image backup with Acronis on my Windows 7 pro computer and stored the .TIB on my external drive.

Now I want to browse and restore that data to my Windows 8 computer. When I open the drive in Windows Explorer the icon next to the .TIB is for Internet Explorer. I have attempted to click on "open with" and browse for Acronis through Program Files (86) but when I set that as the default program it only opens the software, not the .TIB file.

Also, I attempted to mount the image through the software but received the error "could not assign drive letter to partition"

Any suggestions?

There have been other reports of one fix to be the disabling of anti-viurs.
Also, adjust the options so only one partitions is to be mounted.

You may also be able to use the TI Recovey CD and restore the single file when bootted from the CD.

GroverH,

Thank you for your response I will give that a try. Do you have any idea what would cause this? It just seems really strange that when I plugged the drive in Windows 8 would just default Windows Explorer to open the .TIB.

Also, I really like the links that you provide at the bottom of your posts. Good information.

Glad the links help. Click on link 1 for much more.

From within Windows #Explorer, Right click on the tib file and look very carefully at the opitons offered.
This link shows access to the TrueImage folder via the right click contenxt menu.
