True image 2013 Window 8.1 problem with recovery wizard

Thread needs solution

I am trying to restore from a full backup created in Windows 8.1 -
Using True Image 2013 Build 6514

I booted successfully from the USB stick drive and the recovery wizard has found the backup on my external hard drive. I had validated the backup previously, while still in Windows 8.1 environment.
The first problem I have is that the user manual says to validate again after booting from the bootable media - but the options I get on the screen are not the same and shown in the user manual and there is no place that I can find to choose validate as an option. The right click after choosing a backup does bring up any menu.

In addition, I am a neophyte as far as the choices shown for what to recover
Here are all the items listed in the “select the items to recover” section of the recovery wizard under Disk 1
NTFS (OS) (C) Pri NTFS
FAT32 (SYSTEM) Pri FAT32
NTFS (Recovery) Pri FS:NTFS Partition: 0x27 (Windows RE Hidden, PQ,MirOS)
NTFS (Unlabled) Pri FS:NTFS Partition: 0x27 (Windows RE Hidden, PQ,MirOS)
NTFS (Restore) Pri FS:NTFS Partition: 0x27 (Windows RE Hidden, PQ,MirOS)
( I left out the listing of capacity and used space to save typing)

I believe these were the things I checked when I made the full backup.

I tried checking all of them for selecting the items to recover, but the next screen is a mystery as far as specifying recovery settings. What I have on my screen does not match the user manual. I am stuck as to what to do.

My laptop still works as is – I am trying to go back to a previous version when it was working better (some issues with Windows file explorer that I won’t go into).

Basically, the TI backup system is worthless to me for a full restore, as I can’t figure out how to do it with the documentation provided.

Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Babara,

Please see this sticky:

Free upgrade is valid until April 1, 2014

I believe the latest build of 2013 was only certified for Windows 8, and not 8.1

Release date: April 04, 2013
Build: English US, English UK, German, French
Build number: 6514

Installation procedure

The installation procedure is straightforward. Please run the downloaded executable file and follow the instructions.

What's New?
Certification – True Image 2013 Update1 by Acronis is officially certified for MS Windows 8.
Improved operation of Nonstop Backup (NSB) – product now handles unplugging and plugging of USB storage while performing nonstop backup, even if it was unsafely unplugged. Also NSB now conveniently prompts you from the system tray to clean up the disk when it runs out of space on the target storage, and performs automatic defragmentation of the storage whenever NSB session is started.
System tray alerts - Users can now be more conveniently notified when an update or upgrade of the product is available and track the Acronis Cloud subscription state.
Software and hardware compatibility – improved operation with external USB devices.
New panel notifications and log messages, updated Help and User Guide – for your convenience.
E-mail backup - MS Outlook 2013 is now supported.
MS Windows 8 Secure boot is now supported.
Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) 4.0 support – Now the latest WinPE version based on the Windows 8 kernel is supported. You can create a bootable WinPE 4.0 disc that contains True Image 2013.

Thank you for this tip on the upgrade! I still have to learn how to use the product to do a full restore, but will likely upgrade in any case.

Thanks again.
