Do Incremental/Differential backups make any sense at all if deduplication is used?

Thread needs solution

If I use deduplication, I don't see how incremental or differential backups would even work.

If the agent is only sending blocks that have changed anyway, every backup is in effect incremental, no?

What happens if I choose to create an incremental or differential backup with deduplication enabled?

This may be like this only if client-side deduplication is used, and agent calculates hashes of data blocks before sending them to the storage node. With regard to occupied space in vault - it should be true. Also, if the backup is replicated to other location, it's sent there 'un-deduplicated' and in case of e.g. tape vault as a second location it makes a difference. I don't know if there is substantial difference in performance of always-full vs full+incrementals backups to the deduplication vault.
