Acronis DriveCleaner Repeatedly Non-starts Due to Absentee Scheduler Service

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to wipe a drive clean. Every time I invoke Tools and utilities | Security and privacy | Acronis DriveCleaner, the application warns "The tool requires the scheduler service to be started.". When I select "Enable scheduler service" from the dialog box, I get the message "Scheduler service is activated. Now all backups, validations and other tasks can be run." But when I try to invoke DriveCleaner again, I get the same message.

The scheduler service is not set to start automatically. You can change that in the services properties of Windows.

You can see if the Scheduler service is running by opening a command prompt as Administrator and entering the following line:

net start AcrSch2Svc

You will get a response. If the service is running and you are still getting the error, you may have found a program bug.

Thanks. I found the Acronis Scheduler 2 in the services list and set it to Automatic (from Disabled). I do think there is a bug in the program in that the GUI should not report that Acronis has started its scheduler service if it has not. Best regards.

Good enough. I'm wondering how the service became disabled if you didn't do it yourself.

Not sure how the service was disabled unless installed that way. I've never touched it; actually wasn't aware of it until this incident. Thanks.

If the scheduler presents other problems for you, you can set it to start manually. This will allow the service to start when a dependency within the TI app requires it to run. Some users complain about it running continuously causing system lag, high CPU usage, to frequent disk scans, etc..

Good to know. I saw the Manual option in the services list, which is probably fine for my needs at the moment. I only needed that service for the DriveClean utility.
