Why full backup is performed

Thread needs solution

I have followig backups:

22.4. incremental
14.4. incremental
7.4. full

I have created custom back scheme with "Create a full version after 16 incremental versions" and "Store no more than 2 recent version chains". Last week I changed from "Create a full version after 4 incremental versions" to "Create a full version after 16 incremental versions". Today I ran Backup now twice and it always tried to create full backup.

log contains: Backup reserve copy attributes: format tib; need_reserve_backup_copy false;

Why does it behave this way? I do not want 3 hours backup and another wasted 100 GB ..

Hopefully, the full is the beginning of your 16 inc. However, most often the editing of the task (changing from 4 to 16 inc) does not produce the desired results. Most often, in order to get the options to work the way you want them to work is to stop using the existing task and start over with a new task pointing to a new empty storage folder.

Here is an example of how to configure the custom task but you can change the keep 6 inc to keep 16 inc and set your own number of chains to keep.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains.
