Changing Backup scheme

Thread needs solution

I am using an external USB disk for daily backups, using the incremental mode.
The disk is now full and I have changed the setting to: create full version every 10 days and delete version chain older than 21 days. when I press "back up now", the program says "disk is full". It does not clean the versions, older than 21 days. Backup is therefore stops.
what can I do about it?
Thanks,
Carmel

The program does not react favorablly to changes of task configuratin once the task is being used. As your disk is full, You will need to delete the files manually but via the program.

Examiine your storage folder and add up how much disk space is being used by all the 11 files marked as B1. That's the space consumed by one chain. As the program will not delete the oldest chain until AFTER the next full has been created, you must have space enough for 1 complete chain plus a 2nd full before any deletion of the first chain will occur.

Stop using the existing task and create a new task as per this example except you can change the examples of 6 and 4 to fit your needs. If you want the full to occur every 10 backups, then you should consider changing the 6 example to 9, and changing the 4 to 2 (based on your 21 days elaspsed time).
Using the 9 and 2, the program would begin deletion of oldest chain after 2 chains (1 chain=1 full +9 inc or 10 backups) but the deletion would not occur until after the next full is completed so you you need storage room for 2 chains plus 1 full before the deletion actually occurs.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains.

GH5. How to delete backup files using Acronis Backup 'Explorer'

As each inc is only a piece of the chain, you can only delete the most recent inc(s), or all incs so the "s" (slice) numbering remains continuous.
