True image 11 fails to backup files with a long path

I have true image home ver 11 build 8,002.
It halts many times during a backup with error E00040001, usually when trying to backup a file inside the folder C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Local Settings\Application Data\...\...\... and, worse still, then waits for me to click ignore before continuing. Given that it already says its going to take 2 days to back up my 230 Gb of data I cannot sit up all night waiting to click ignore just in case it happens again.

In thread 8429: (Failed Backup) on Sat, 2010-02-20 11:15 after another user reported the same thing, 'Oleg' from Acronis stated "... True Image 11 Home. This version is an outdated one, we have had some issues in backing up files with a long path in this version. ... The issue has been addressed in the latest versions of Acronis True Image. I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 "

However, I have already paid for what I took to be a working backup solution from Acronis. It now appears acronis are aware does not in fact work. Is there a way I can obtain a 'working' version of what I have paid for without paying again?

(I have just downloaded the trial of acronis disc director and that also failed with the apparently known error of 'failure to initialise ramdisk' so you will understand my reluctance to part with more money on the off chance that TI 2010 works any more reliably than ver 11).
