Hiding Secure Zone partition

Thread needs solution

I was wondering if i can hide the Secure Zone in windows XP?

I made a Secure Zone partition with ATI2011 and now this partition also shows up in explorer. To make sure nobody by accident can delete or do something there i want to hide it, same like a factory recovery partition. Also i want to know if it is hidden, can the Startup manager still find this partition to recover from?

Thanks.

Just a side note here: If you want security, don't put the the backups on the same disk that is being backed up. If the hard disk goes, the SZ on it won't be accessible.

Can't tell y ou the specifics on how the fiels system will handle the SZ because I, like most users, use separate drives, including removable drives to store backups off the data or system disk and at a remote location. You can open Explorer and select Tools Folder Options, View and deselect Show Hidden Files and Folders.

OTOH, if you can change the attributes to make it invisible with Explorer, then there's your answer. If not, then why worry, as Explorer can't open/read the partition?

If you want to mess around with file attibutes, you can use free program like attributes.com from

http://www.petges.lu/download/download.html

The Recover Startup Mgr won't care about a partition being hidden. It should be able to see all hard disk and partitions on your machine.

It looks like the partition is hidden (no drive letter etc.) but within windows explorer it shows the secure zone as a seperate disk which you can open, explore and even delete the backup archive in it.

I don't want this Secure Zone to show up in windows explorer, i only want it to be visible when using ATI to restore, either from ATI windows or ATI bootable CD/DVD.

Can it be hidden from windows explorer?
Thanks.

Dear Alex,

Thanks for your reply. but when we are accessing Acronis True Image, the Acronis Secure Zone is coming. Once of our customer wants to disable this option & also wants to disable Delete option from Acronis Partition

Thanks

Hello

>>>...but when we are accessing Acronis True Image, the Acronis Secure Zone is coming...

Yes this is a problem. Acronis activate it's shell folder in my pc.

and in case of open AcrTrIm I will always delete this reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\{C539A15B-3AF9-4c92-B771-50CB78F5C751}

If you know some app which can watching reg entries and can delete if it appair you can use it for auto delete "Acronis Secure Zone" 's reg entry.

and I will thankful you for it's name (reg keys whatching app)
thanks
