Effects of drive letter changes for removable media
Obviously, removable media presents some special problems. But how does Acronis deal with the following problems:
1. What happens when the backup routine, in the Acronis application window, is directed to a drive letter where the removable media in that drive is not the original media used for the previous backup?
2. What happens when a removable backup media is inserted, but inherits a new drive letter because the original drive letter (when the backup routine was created) is no longer available?
3. How does the user change the drive letter assigned to a backup routine when the media is not inserted or the wrong media is inserted in that drive letter?
4. Why does newly inserted media, containing an Acronis backup, sometimes show as a new backup routine in the main Acronis backup window? Especially when the existing backup routine (in the main Acronis backup window) for that specific media, is already associated with the drive letter where the media has been inserted?
Thank you for any help with these issues.

The backup will fail if the drive letter on the target disk drive letter is different than when the task was created. The solution is to change the drive letter on the target disk (before you create the backup task) to a letter such as x or y or z. As the letter is pre-assigned, the insertion of another usb device will not cause a change of drive letter.
Stop using the non-working task and create a new task pointing to a pre-assigned drive letter. If you try to edit and siimply change the task to a different letter, the task will never work correctly and ultimately, you will start over so bite the bullet and start over now with a new task for this issue.
This is some examples of the what I believe the best way to create a backup task to allow it to have the best option to work without issues. An extract from my signature links.
GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains). The 4 is user choice.
GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is user choice.
GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is user choice.
After the new task has been created, leave it along and make no further changes. If changes needed, stop using the task and start a new task. The only exception to my "no edit rule" is a change of schedule and that can be done from the main menu--outside the edit function.

GH57. Assorted task features.
