Clone Hard Drive Not Working
If I use the clone feature to clone a bootable hard drive/partition to a bigger hard drive, it will not boot at all.
This program is very rudimentary as far as taken the steps to clone my hard drive...am I missing something?
I have even tried it with a different hard drive too and still the same results...could not boot to the new drive.
Anybody?
I am using True Image 2010. It's a desktop I am woring on. As far as the BIOS, I would disconnect the old drive and then boot.
Is there a patch or something.
Most BIOS's I've worked with will change the booting order of drives when the drive setup changes. You can't assume that the new drive will be selected as the booting drive. If you haven't actually verified the booting order is correct after disconnecting the old drive, do so.
You would need to check your Acronis account and see if there is a newer build available (you don't say which build you're using).
I am not sure where to look for the build. I just purchased True Image 2010 like...a week ago, if that helps.
If you downloaded the TI installer, the build number is usually included in the filename.
To get the build from TI, start TI and then click the little down-arrow just to the right of the (?) button in the top-right corner of the window. Then click on About.
You can also access the standard menu bar by pressing Alt and then selecting Help >> About from the menu.
I would try the Reverse Clone method ... this is where you put the new drive in the booting position and the original elsewhere - slave or as the secondary on the primary channel. And I would also do the clone process using the bootable Rescue CD.

Finsfree, did you tried to clone your drives within Windows or under the bootable CD? What happened exactly when you tried to boot from the cloned drive?
I may recommend you to clone your drives using reverse method, as DwnNDrty suggested and use a bootable CD.

Although there's insufficient information to know exactly what the problem is, there is one other possibility (assuming you have two SATA drives, one in the primary connection and one in the secondary connection), you haven't enabled the secondary connection in system setup. To check this possibility, enter system setup (alt, del, F2 or whatever, check your computer documentation) at the initiation of start up and check to make sure that the secondary connection is ON.
