Restore standard TI partition image to a virtual drive

Thread needs solution

Can I take an image of a WinXP system drive and restore it to a virtual drive on another pc running Win7 ? If so what are the requirements? I'm currently using TI 2010 on both pcs.

Hello Victor,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

Since virtual machine is considered to be a dissimilar hardware, you should use Acronis Universal Restore to add the necessary drivers. You should purchase Acronis Plus Pack. Acronis Plus Pack is a separately purchased add-on that can be installed over Acronis True Image Home 2010.

Once the add-on is installed, Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack will have the following features:

- Dynamic/GPT disks support;

- Acronis Universal Restore. See Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack: Using Acronis Universal Restore;

- Acronis WinPE ISO Builder. See Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack: Creating WinPE Media with Acronis Plug-In.

Also you should find the necessary drivers, you can contact VM vendor to obtain them.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
