Unused files in centralized vaults?

I have several instances of Acronis, and this is something I have noticed at multiple locations.

If you look at the attached screenshot, you can see one archive in a centralized vault, consisting of one full backup and a few incremental and differential backups.

If you look at the following, its a list of the files stored in the actual filesystem.

The full backup from the screenshot is done at 8/14/2014, which matches the second and third file in the filesystem listing. If you add them in size it also seems to match the size of the full backup.
But what is the first file? Its over 500GB in size and matches none of the backups, neither in size nor date. I have searched for the filename in the xml files in the vault but get no hit, while all the other filenames exist.

What is this file? Why is it created, and what does it contain?
I have found similar files on several other installations, that simply take up huge amounts of space but does not seem to match any of the backups in the vault.
As of now, Acronis claims the vault to be 2.9TB while it occupies 3.5TB on disk, so something clearly differs.
Any ideas?

It looks like a backup from the previous backup chain (where the full was created on August 8) that should have been deleted according to the retention rules, but wasn't. As this file is not mentioned in the .xml file, it's not accounted for the total vault size. This behavior doesn't match any known issue, and will require investigation - you need to contact our support. I'm sure that this file can be safely deleted, but don't do it if you decide to contact the support on this matter
