uninstalled programs in a differential backup

Thread needs solution

Let's assume I take a full backup on Sunday, uninstall a program on Monday, and then perform a differential backup on Tuesday.

If I perform a restore on Wednesday using the full & differential backups, will it be true that the uninstalled program will not be available and all Registry (and other related) entries will also be gone?

The reason I ask is that all discussions I've read refer to adding new data after the backup is taken and I want to be assured that programs and data deleted after the backup will remain deleted when I restore.

Thanks,
Dan

Yes it will be true that after the restore you will be back to the state after you started your differential backup (ATI takes a snapshot of the data when the backup starts). The way you word your question, though, is not clean because you are asking whether the registry entries will be gone. That depends on the installer/uninstaller work. But conceptually, you will go back to the state at which you started your differential backup.

Hi Pat,

Agreed - if the uninstaller doesn't clean up the Registry then I certainly don't expect Acronis to do so.
If I understand you, the newly ATI restored system will not contain the program I deleted on Monday - correct?

Thanks!
Dan
