I use a WD 1TB ext USB 3.0 Drive, cannot select 'make media bootable'....
Hi,
Running windows 7 SP1.
Dell Laptops, several all with USB 3.0 ports.
I have several WD My Passport 1TB external HD's that attach via USB.
Windows sees these as local drives.
I can do a full backup, and a full partition backup to the external Passport drives.
I CANNOT select 'make media bootable' though.
I tried this after selecting a full partition backup, could not get the selection box 'make media bootable' to accept a check mark.
I tried another WD drive, formatted it, same issue.
Is there any way to 'make media bootable' to a USB attached hard drive in windows?
USB drive works, as does CD/DVD, but that's more stuff to carry around or worry about loosing.
I would like to be able to BOOT INTO the EXTERNAL drive, boot Acronis from that singular drive, then after a successful boot be able to move on with my restore.
Any advice?
Thanks,
- Ian

Your problem appears to be that in fact the WD drives report themselves as local drives and not removable media. If these drives reported as removable then the make media bootable option would become active.
