Trueimage 2015 trashes Windows XP search function

Thread needs solution

After much time spent on it, I have finally proved this.

The search function does work but it takes about 30-40 seconds to start up, and during that time the whole "windows explorer context" hangs. You can continue to run existing programs that are already open, and there is no significant % CPU usage elsewhere, but you can't do anything else.

Clearly the search function is waiting for something and that "something" is delayed by Trueimage until something times out.

I bought this from the German distributor and have requested a replacement with 2013 or 2014.

The HD is a 1TB one running via the ASUS PK5E motherboard SATA interface, set to Enhanced IDE (not AHCI) so 2013 should be fully compatible. Anyway, searches suggest that AHCI is not any faster...

One can also buy 2013 for about GBP 9 which is about 1/5 of the original price, so if I don't get a replacement or refund I will just buy that and raise a Paypal refund ticket on 2015.

It's also a pity that a great product like this has been so dumbed down. 2015 is a very dumb interface and loads of good old features have been removed.

I also don't like the fact that there is no longer an installable .exe (the installation is purely via a download, from a URL that's valid for 30 days only) which means that if I lose the HD I have no way to reinstall the program. Only the recovery program is a standalone installation package (.msi). And I have just spent a number of days rebuilding my PC after losing the RAID1 HD system, following the power supply blowing up...

Does it make any difference if the TI shell extensions are integrated or not?

I didn't spend any more time on it, removed the program, and installed TI 2010 which works perfectly... The motherboard controller is "Enhanced IDE" SATA so even old TI works with it. In fact the TI 2010 bootable CD can be used to not only restore a backup but also *make* a backup, which is great because you can be 100% sure that no system files have been locked - because the PC has been booted from the TI (unix) CD.
