Acronis True Image Home process eats up CPU resources on continuous loop after a recent 2015 upgrade nag

Thread needs solution

About a couple of weeks ago I started getting popups in the notification area about an update from Acronis being available. So I went ahead and clicked on it. To my surprise it was not a free update. So I x-ed out of it.

The issue that I've started experiencing now is that **every day** when their update nag comes up and I click on it to dismiss it the "Acronis True Image Home" process starts running and using up my computer's resources on continuous loop:

Worse still, if I try to open the regular control panel for the Acronis program and then close it, the above process continues running and using up CPU on my computer until I forcefully kill it via the Task Manager.

Is there any way to fix this?

I read it when it was 1st posted, but didn't have a helpful suggestion ... if you are entertaining shots in the dark, I would say uninstall/reinstall

I 2nd, 3rd, 4th that ... the nag screen is driving me nuts ... I have the exact problem.
