Help, Win 8.1 Cannot do recovery of full backup to a new PC - bootable CD does not work

Thread needs solution

I was using an ASUS laptop (Win 8.1) with Acronis True Image 2014. I was doing full backups once a week for four weeks to external drive and had the last backup on Sun (11/2). Then suddenly Windows would not boot up giving a medium blue screen with no text on it. I took the ASUS back to where I purchased it.

Now have a Dell laptop (Inpsiron 15) as loaner since the ASUS is under warranty and may have to be sent away for repair.
However I am not able to do recovery of a full backup using backup CD to the Dell with many years of documents, pictures etc.

I had installed Acronis 2014 about 4 months ago on the ASUS, created a bootable Recovery CD right away and did a successful recovery test to ASUS Now I am not able to do a Recovery using the Recovery CD to the Dell laptop loaner.

A technician showed me how to change the boot sequence on the Dell to "legacy" to boot from CD. While the CD seems to be accessed, it would not boot from the CD. Another suggestion had been to try booting from a portable CD/DVD drive connecting to USB port but this would not boot either.

Then I installed Acronis 2014 on the Dell loaner to try to do a recovery from Acronis but was unsuccessful. Can this even be done? The steps that I took after starting Acronis were:
1. I went to backup and recovery tab;
2. Selected last full back-up;
3. Clicking on “recover icon” and then “recover”.
4. The list of 5 partitions of back up appeared with boxes to the left of each: SYSTEM, Recovery, OS(C:) unnamed partition, Restore.
5, I checked the box beside OS(C:) and indicated a Recovery destination of Dell OS(C:). I did do the same to the others because there was not a Dell recognizable named partition to associate with those in the backup.
6. Then I clicked on “Recover Now” box. This did NOT seem to restore any documents, pictures, etc. though it went of end of task.

Is there any other solution that I can use to recover these documents, pictures, etc.?

I will appreciate any help you can give me.

Sorry that my entry got duplicated and I did not find a way to delete the last one. Ken

If you have ATIH 2014 installed on the new PC and access to your .tib files (back up). Mount the .tib files created previously and recover your data directly from them.
