External Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

Hello
Using Windows 7 64 bit
USB 2.0
Acronis 2010

I just replaced my external hard drive with a new Toshiba 3TB one. It's a 3.0 backwards compatable to 2.0. Acronis see's the drive OK, but cannot see the contents of the drive. When booting to disc it reads Disk 2 - (Unlabeled) (G) - Pri,Act - 2.729 TB - FS: None Partition: 0x7 ( NTFS, HPFS ). Does it need to see a label and how would I get it to see the contents of the drive. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,
Have a look at this thread.

This could be a problem with the formatting, or hardware support. You can create folders and see them on the new drive in windows right? Or no?

Yes, everything works ok except Acronis will not see contents of the drive.

Problem solved....larger HD not supported by Windows 7. I down sized to 2TB and Acronis sees it. When I get time I'll partition the 3TB and use it that way.

Thanks

I was just replying to your thread... It's not that windows 7 doesn't support your new disk. Its your hardware... motherboard. A BIOS update could offer this support. Check with the manufacturer.
