Used File backup for hard drive and not disk backup, and need recovery
Used Acronis TI 2014 Premium edition Build 6614, and made a big mistake. Unbeknown to me I used the File Backup on my Lenovo Laptop with XP for Acronis Backup job. I am now validating this backup and want to know if this can be used successfully to bring back computer to same state as it was prior to getting blue screen of death?
I put in a USB stick as computer was starting up and it evidently destroyed the data on hard drive, as I cannot get it to boot into windows. I cannot get it to boot into Safe mode, so decided to use one of my backups that I have kept on external hard drive. When searching for disk image it was showing no results. When I changed to File preview, there it was. I had no idea that you can you could even backup a whole drive in file mode and have no idea why I did it this way, but it is done and I see no backups in disk mode that were made. This file ends in .....full_b1_s1_v1.tib
It was a backup of the C drive and D drive. The D drive was the restoration backup created by Lenovo that will restore to original configuration when I received laptop.. Is this possible to do and what other steps should I try or do before putting image on the hard drive, as I want to try to get back to same condition as before the incident with USB malfunction.
Thanks in advance. Not sure if this is ever a good feature to have on a backup program, as it should default to disk image if you are backing up entire contents of drive, including factory restore partition or drive.
Validation check just ended in a successful validation as I just checked. Please refer to ending file name that was added by Acronis TI, as I did not write this in. File name in its entirety is Backup of T61P of C drive and D drive(restore drive original config) on 11-12-13_full_b1_s1_v1.tib

Didn't work. Got error that said operating system failed to load. Any ideas from anyone? I do have another backup that only shows in files and folders as a .tib archive file. Will this work as a recovery using this archive backup? The last backup I used showed up as a disk archive on Acronis TI 2013. Figured it would work but did not for some reason. Should I have included MBR on the recovery?
