Rescue Media disc can't find External USB drive containing my backup
I recently upgraded to True Image 2015-6525 (from an older version I rarely used, was not installed on my current system). I ran a Disks and Partitions backup of my main SSD drive, destination was a Seagate 2TB USB external drive. Seemed successful. Then I created the Rescue Media Builder disc. Seemed successful. Then I restarted, booting from that rescue disc. Launched Acronis TI from the disc, selected restore. But it cannot find my external USB drive. Not listed.

I reiterate what Enchantech said. The USB drive needs direct access to the USB controller card, not via an extension or remote port.
If following that advice still yields no joy, try a USB 2.0 port if you have one to see if result differs from USB 3.0 port.

Robert,
If trying another port doesn't resolve your issue, there is a driver issue in the Linux version of the rescue media in builds 6055 and 6525. They don't contain some of the drivers necessary to see some USB connected hard drives. In my tests Build 5539 had no trouble seeing all of my USB connected hard drives. Builds 6055 and 6525 cannot detect my 3TB Seagate hard drive no matter which computer or USB port is used. However, the WinPE version of the rescue media for all three builds can see all of my USB hard drives. I reported this issue to the forum moderator on 10/29/2014.
So you have a couple of options.
1) You can uninstall the latest build and reinstall build 5539 to create your Linux rescue media and use it until a fix is released.
Recommended
2) You can create the WinPE rescued media. You'll have to download and install the 2015 media add-on and the Windows ADK. The rescue media builder will provide links to the appropriate files. When installing the Windows ADK, uncheck everything except Deployment Tools and Windows Preinstallation Environment. It requires a little more work to build than the Linux version, but it is well worth the effort.
