New SSD won't boot after clone with Acronis 20014

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I just cloned windows 8.1 and it doesn't seem to boot. I noticed when I check the Disk Management, the clone drives doesn't say boot like the original HDD. How do I make the new SSD bootable in Windows 8.1? See attached.

It appears that you still have both the source disk and the target disk installed in your system. You must detach the source drive from the system in order to boot the clone. The clone drive should also be attached to port 0 and not port 1.

I also took out the old hard drive and put in the cloned SSD but it doesn't seem to want to boot up to it.

So I deleted all the partitioned and formatted the SSD to NTFS. Put it in the laptop so I can do a brand new installation. I put in my boot-able USB drive with Windows installation and put it to first boot priority. The bootup detected my USB Install drive but just hang there with the Windows 8 icon.

I also put in the old hard drive and boot up with the USB install drive and it boot up with the WIndows Installation process.

Is it just maybe my SSD is not compatible with my laptop?

SSD: Crucial MX100

Thanks in advanced

There have been reported problems with some Crucial MX100 drives, yours may be one of them. If you did not disable Secure Boot in the bios during your above attempts you should do so and try again.
