I've Had It. Enough is Enough!
B&R 10. This POS software just does not work. It's a nightmare to install on W7. I have a task that has been "stopping" for 3 months. I can't delete it. No help from support. The cleanup tasks do not work. GFS task does not work. The interface and file naming suck beyond belief. I now get the following message every day now for the last several weeks. It just started showing up.

WTF!
I deleted an archive and the deletion is still running with 150% completion! WFT again.... This is the most buggy, insidious waste of my time that has ever polluted my hard drive. If support sees this don't even bother responding because I just don't have time to futz with this. I'm done.
Good work Acronis, you've driven off a loyal customer of 10 years...

Thanks for your reply. I was using ABR 10 Workstation (whatever the latest version was from December 2009) on W7 Ultimate 64 bit single user on 1 computer. It was a pain to install. The setup file did not work and I finally got it to install by navigating to the .msi file. The December upgrade did not install properly either. I struggled for several days and don't even remember what I had to do to get it to install. The error message I posted was one of several that just started popping up. I have been struggling with the software since September 2009. The GFS task would create the backups but would not delete files according to schedule. So I created a simple task with full backups every month and differentials every day. I tried to limit the amount of space used by the backups to 500 GB, but it would never delete any of them even though there were several full backups and usage was approaching 1TB. It should have deleted the oldest differentials but it didn't. I tried several test backups. Create a full every day and delete anything older than two days. It's just broke and it doesn't work. I'm not trying to do anything exotic, just keep a month worth of system drive. I had tasks that tried to run but weren't in the scheduler. I downloaded the schedmgr.exe and went through the cryptic process of deleting these ghosts tasks. I have lost confidence in the software and do not trust it. I still had a task that was in the "stopping" state for 3 months. Couldn't delete or edit it.
The straw that broke the camel's back today and resulted in my tirade above was deleting an archive. I deleted it using the archive delete function within ABR from the archive menu. It deleted the archive and then two hours later I noticed I had an icon in the task bar saying the deletion task was running and was 150% complete. The icon was not active and would not respond to click, double click, right click. I think Acronis got too ambitious with this software. It needs another few cycles of beta testing. TrueImage 9 Workstation was a piece of art compared with the dog that is ABR. TI9 worked all the way through the w7 beta cycles and then stopped working in the the RC.
I have since wiped it off my hard drive. I used the abr_cleanup utility. Its gone and good riddance. Maybe I'll try again when a new update comes out and I have a week to kill :)

Your experiences mimic my own. My solution was also to rip ABR 10 Workstation from the end-user system, and I have since replaced with Ghost.
I have been a huge fan of Acronis over the years, and as the IT guy at a software firm myself, I recognize that there can be a bug here and there. That being said, the following two issues drove me to, "Enough is enough" as well:
- True Image stalls when backing up systems if an iPod is connected. Any iPod. I assume it doesn't like removable disks, as that's all an iPod to a Windows system.
- ABR 10 Workstation is unable to complete the most basic backups on multiple systems where I have deployed it.
Thanks for the good years, Acronis, but enough is enough.

Sadly I agree. Acronis has had ample time to get their act together and have not. In the words of that famous sailor "I have stood alls I canand I can't stands no more". What a shame...

I've similar experience, but on XP. Difficult to install, tasks that don't run, GFS that does not work, cleanup that runs but does nothing, deleting of backups that run forever, ask for support and being kept busy for a week supplying information, hearing nothing for over 2 weeks and still for over a month no server backup.......
Also was a happy customer with the 9 version but with B&R I took the gable for my customer and I lost.......
