Acronis TI 2012 - Unable to select primary drive as source drive in cloning process!

Thread needs solution

I have a new problem with this software, which has been working perfectly since it was supplied to me by Acronis.

I am trying to complete a new "clone" back-up of the primary drive in my laptop. It is split into four partitions, but it has been like this since new. Previously, the software has had no issue with this.

When I click on the "clone disk" icon on your software, it opens up the wizard to start the process. You can either click on "automatic" or "manual". It doesn't matter which is selected, as when you get onto the "source tab", the primary drive in my laptop is greyed out, so that it cannot be selected and only the external USB drive can be selected as the source.

If you then click on "destination drive" which I've had to try, to see what happens, THEN I can select the primary drive of the laptop. I can't go any further as I don't actually want to do this, as it is the exact reverse of what I'm trying to achieve - i.e. the only thing the software will let me do at present, is to clone my external back-up drive onto my primary laptop drive!

I do not understand why I cannot select my primary (sole) laptop drive as the "source" drive in this process anymore. As I say, I've used this software many times to create a clone back-up of my laptop drive (the very reason why I bought the software to begin with), and for some reason it will not let me anymore. I've even had to use my previous clone back-ups to restore my primary drive in the past - so I do not understand this at all.

Anyone know why this might be happening?

Some users have found that this type situation was caused by disk errors, and can be corrected by checking/fixing each partiton on the source disk for disk errors.
