how to restore data from Acronis 2015 for just one program? (Quicken)

Thread needs solution

Hi - this is Bernard Pearlman (Acronis client) and his computer tech (John Hechtman). We have a situation where we need to restore the data for just one of Bernard's programs (Quicken - by Intuit). We don't want to restore the whole computer, because there is new data on it, that would be wiped if we do so.

The problem we are trying to resolve is that Bernard's financial data in Quicken became corrupted, and we had to re-download it from his bank. Problem is, that only gives us >part< of the data that was lost, as Bernard 'breaks out' the data manually, so he has a record of each expense. The bank statement only gives an aggregate for each month, which doesn't give Bernard the data he entered by hand.

We have multiple Acronis True Image 2015 backup files that could be used to restore from - but we only want to restore the Quicken data. Is it possible to do this?

Bernard can be reached via email at bpearlman@earthlink.net.
John can be reached at jhecht@ix.netcom.com.

Bernard's phones are: landline 212 477 2653 / cell 917 796 8600.
John's phones are: landline 212 586 4633 / cell 917 628 0192.

Please get in touch asap, and tell us how to proceed?

Best you can do is to locate past Quicken data files. They are typically named QdataN.QDF where N is a number, usually 1. There should also be backup data files. Run Quicken and restore the data file. You will loose the manually entered data between now and the date of the file being restored.

To get the QDF files right click an Acronis .tib file and select TrueImage/Mount. Only assign a drive letter to the C: drive partition. Say you assign drive letter H. Now look in H:\Users\UserName\Documents and H:\Users\UserName\Documents\BACKUP for QDF files. If not found there, search H: for files named *.QDF*. This will locate QDF and QDF-Backup files. Copy out the QDF file you want to restore to the C:. To unmount the tib file, right click H:\ and select Unmount. Then run Quicken and restore the QDF file using File/Backup and Restore/Restore from backup file.
