Cancelled by User

Thread needs solution

I have several computers at work running a a backup once per week -all word and excel user files.
I have the backup setup to create a full backup - and delete the previous backup.
I only need one full current backup.

On several computers I keep getting cancelled by user - and a failed backup.
The files are around 8GB - the USB devices are 16GB.
I would image I have plenty of space available to delete the last full backup - and create a new full backup.

Lately I have had to format the USB devices - create a new full backup and run it manually.
However 7 days later when the backup is run on its Friday schedule - I get the usual cancelled by user.

I don't know what to do other than possibly replacing the 16GB with 32GB to increase the free space on the USB device.

Chuck,
Your problem is the procedure used by Acronis. They are trying to protect you and therefore the program will not delete the old until AFTER the new one has been created. Therefore, the amount of storage free space needed has to be larger than 2 full backups. Your option is to either get larger flash drives; or delete the existing old backups prior to scheduled ones which will cause the program to complain about missing files and need manual intervention.

My suggestion would be to use larger storage drives. Format as NTFS so the backup file will be one large file rather than splits.
Set up the backup scheme as a custom full scheme as per this example except the stor 'n number always needs space for 1 more full.
If your backup size is 9gb; a 16 GB stick is too small for automatic cleanup.
if 32gb stick, you can set the stor 'n to either 1 or 2 but not 3
If 64 gb stick, the stor 'n can be either up to 5 but not 6.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme....Store/Keep 4 versions (chains). Use whatever number best fits the individual needs..

New storage disks will require new backup tasks due to the changed target disk id.
