ATIH 2014 Makes Backup at Bootup...
...even when the option, under Schedule, has been left UNCHECKED. I am using build 6699 (latest) edition of the product.
What can I do so that if a backup isn't made, it DOES NOT START when the computer is next started?
I'm building a new system for a coffee house. They come in at 5:00 am and turn on the computer. The system stays on until the backup starts automatically at 10:30 pm (after everyone has gone home), after which it automatically shuts down.
Sometimes (say, when there has been a power outage), the backup won't get made, and when they turn it on in the morning, a backup starts automatically---even though I did NOT tell it to. That consumes the computer resources, so they're Point-Of-Sale system is just too slow to use until the back is done.
Is this a known defect in ATIH 2014 (build 6699)? Is there a workaround?
Here's what I know:
1. There is only one "script" saved in the folder.
2. The system is running on Windows 7 Pro SP1 with all updates.
3. I have confirmed that ONLY the "Prevent the computer from going to sleep/hibernate" option is checked in the Scheduling "Options." The "Missed backup" option is NOT selected.
Anyone know how to stop this aberrant and unwanted behavior?

I have found that ati 2014 will make missed backups on startup even if you have the settings set to tell it not to do that. That simple contradiction cdonstitues a bug, imo. I don't know if they fixed this in 2015 because 2015 is a stripped down version of 2014 and I haven't run it much. Looking forward to ati2016, which should be out in a few months if Acronis follows its typical schedule.

Carol Anne Ogdin,
On a side note, a machine used for business should also be protected by UPS. This is true for all PC's, but especially for any POS device. I always insist on this option for private clients.

Thanks for your help, Grover, but it still persists in running an inappropriate backup at startup, because a backup was scheduled for everyday, and the computer was never turned on in the morning due to a holiday. So, true to form, the very next morning (because there WAS NO BACKUP), it started running again.
I'll try ATIH 2015, but based on my recent experiences (the past three years) with Acronis, I'm not sanguine about it working.
Acronis, with its' move to Germany, seems to be focused on cashing-out, not satisfying customers.

Use the trial version. ati2015 is very diff interface from prior versions. Very stripped down. So easier to use but not as robust.

To recap:
It's not you, it is, I believe a bug in ATI2014.

The problem persists in ATIH 2015. Goodbye, Acronis. I'm off to replace ATIH with a reliable product: Drive Snapshot, for which I've written support scripts that work with incredible reliability and consistency for several years. Cheaper, cleaner, and better.

I too have used Acronis through several versions. I'm tired of all the bugs and am moving to Macrium Reflect. That's what a lot of us should do and maybe Acronis will get the message. ATI 2015 is an even greater disaster. Fortunately I did not buy it.
