Help with the Basics

Feel stupid having to ask this basic a question, but this is the most confusing interface I've ever used.

I have Acronis True Image 2015, and I just want to know how to do the following:

1. Setup a one time backup of everything to my external USB Drive
2. Have it go in, periodically, and update that backup incrementally with any new files, or changes.

I thought I had that, but what I have, is a 3TB drive (USB) filled with "complete" backups. I just want a simple full system backup, and then for it to incrementally back up new/changed stuff.

Can someone walk me through how to set that up? I feel so dumb asking, as I am very technical, but this product is completely arcane to me.

What settings do you have under Operations>Settings? You can set the frequency of the backup and whether it's an incremental scheme or otherwise.

Beware of a long chain of incrementals though, it only takes one bad one and recovery may not be possible.
