Increasing the Partition Size from XP to Windows 7
I have two basic partitions on my Windows Desktop. Drive C: boots up and runs Windows 7 and Drive D: boots up and runs XP They both reside on the same 160 GB hard drive. I am almost out of space on the Windows 7 partition (C:) but plenty of space on the XP partition (D:). Using Disk Director 11, I was able to resize the XP partition down to 30 GB, which resulted in almost 70 GB of "unallocated" space on D:. I can not figure out how to move this unallocated space on D: over to C:. When I right click on D: all I get is "create Volume" . I bought Disk Director 11 program over a year ago to only do this one operation and I have never been able to figure out how to do so. I only have about 3 GB of "free space" left on C: and DD 11 program shows only 101 MB of "unallocated" space on the C: partition. I need to upgrade my operating system on this computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and the conversion requires 16 GB of free space. I no longer use XP at all and it would be fine if I eliminated the D: partition all together. Right now the D: partition is reduced down to just 30GB and that is also fine. Please help me. Here are some screen shots demonstrating a couple of ways this can be accomplished with Disk Director.
Since you have already resized the XP partition, following the steps in screenshots dd_2_1 and dd_2_2 would be the simplest way to finish the job. Page 30 of the user manual has more information on resizing volumes.
Good luck.
