NAS & Storage nodes & backup networks

Thread needs solution

 New installation of B&R Advanced Server 10 - existing True Image Enterprise, but currently only working with two servers that never had TIES on them.  All servers to be backed up have 2 NICs, there is a NAS on which the backup images need to be stored, which is accessible from only the second NIC.  This backup network is otherwise unrouted and isolated.

After finally wrestling the various B&R components onto these new, w2008 servers, I would like to create some vaults on the NAS via the storage node so I can begin backing up.  Unfortunately, the vault creation dialog will not allow (and actively hides) any reference to the NAS when identifying where to put the vault.  I have bound directories to drive letters, have created w2008 "network locations", and attempted to browse via the creation dialog to the network devices directly.

If I had to guess, it does not appear that the devices on the backup network are being identified by the Acronis B&R software.   In this environment, it is *critical* that backup traffic be kept on this backup network - previously, this has been accomplished by backing up each machine to the NAS directly via TIES.  In an environment where there is a B&R management server, and policies/jobs kicked off from there, to a storage node that resides on the management server also, how, via B&R, do I force all traffic from backup client to storage node, assuming that I can get a vault created at some point?

This would seem relatively rudimentary capabilities for a package as reportedly full featured as B&R 10 advanced, but I am not seeing any "knobs", and there is no logging to speak of.

Hello Gregg,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Could you please specify the NAS using the full UNC path or the IP address and see if the issue remains? If the issue persists, to localize the issue please do the following:

- Please try to create the vault on another than NAS directory;

- Try to create the vault directly without using Storage Node.

Let us know the results.

Thank you.

Just wondering if you ever did manage to get this working. since i am considering a similar deployment.

Hello RonnyA,

Thank you for posting your question. I will be happy to assist you.

If I understood correctly, the initial issue was due to the fact, that there were multiple NICs on the machine, and there was some confusion about identifying the correct one and using it with our software.

I have checked Gregg's case and it appears the issue was resolved. When adding a license to the Acronis License Server, the MAC address of the NIC is used.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you.
