Win 7 conflict with watch-state
After putting PC in the watch state, it remains only a couple of seconds: screen and CPU; after it restarts as if I would have done nothing - very frustrating !

Feel free to repost in French if needed, but I don't understand what you mean by "watch state"... I guess it means "sleep state"?
If this is true and your computer doesn't stay asleep, you should google "computer doesn't stay in sleep mode". There are various things to check.

Thank you very for your inquiry!
The "watch state" was an unhappy translation of "état de veille". It meant actually "sleep state"
I will follow your advice, but in my oppinion it clearly has to do with Acronis, as before going to sleep -for a short while, it says "Acronis has to finish..." something I didn't ask for !

If you have a scheduled backup, go to the backup options, the scheduling tab, and open the advanced options there. Uncheck the box that prevents sleeping).
It is possible that ATI is running a task in the background that prevents the sleep, or wakes the computer up.
What type of backup are you running? Do you have options like "validation after backup" or "reserved copy" turned on?

I have unchecked the box that prevents sleeping
there is no validation after back-up, no reserved copy
however PC does not remain aslept longer than a couple of seconds
I ask Acronis to back-up the whole PC

Are we sure this is tied to Acronis? What happens if you disable all Acronis services in computer management and end Acronis applications in task manager and then put the system to sleep? Does it stay asleep then?
I have had machines that refuse to say asleep becuase of Windows Home Group media sharing which sets to keep the system active while Media is being accessed. If you have a Roku, smart TV, other PC, etc, attached to the media, it will try to keep it active. There can be several other reasons as well such as network adapters prventing sleep, attached USB devices, etc. Please take a look at some of these and see if any of them may be the culprit.
Network adapters may be set to not let the system to sleep either
A computer that is running Windows 7 appears to sleep, but then it immediately wakes
Windows 7 PC won't stay in sleep mode
Some bios even have wake timers and sleep prevention as options that can be configured there too.

Hello All,
Alexandre, in addition to what Pat and Bobbo said, if the problem disappears after you uninstall Acronis True Image 2016 and comes back after you install the software again, I would suggest you to submit a ticket at http://www.acronis.com/support/. If it will be confirmed to be a problem with Acronis software, support fee will be refunded.
Regards,
Slava
