Retro compatibility of Acronis true image home 2016

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody, I am interested in upgrading my Acronis true image home 2012 and Plus Pack to 2016 version.  But I found nothing about its back-compatibility. I usually go on backing-up after a "version chain" scheme, and writing to one internal HD. The initial and first following backups take a very long time (about ten hours each, including verifications).

I'd like to know if 2016 version will proceed on on my actual "version chain" chain processing, or on the contrary I will be forced to begin again the backups chain from scratch (i.e. Complete#1, Complete#2, Differential#1, Differential#2,.....).

Many thanks for attention

Please see KB document https://kb.acronis.com/content/1689.

ATIH 2016 only offers backward compatibility as far as 2013 therefore would not be compatible with your 2012 images / version chains.

However, if you are continuing to use the same computer system, then there is no reason to discard your 2012 images as you could always boot up from a rescue CD should you need to use them, and this would give you time to start building a new set of version chains with the 2016 version which will eventually replace the older images.
