Questions Regarding True Image 2016 and UEFI

Thread needs solution

I have TWO Questions regarding machines with UEFI and a GPT boot partition:

1. When True Image v2016 is running in Windows 10, can it create a full image of the boot drive WITHOUT editing the UEFI boot settings first?

2. Can True Image 2016's Boot Media boot a Windows 10 PC to restore OR create a boot disk image WITHOUT editing the UEFI boot settings first?

Than you.

Jerry, the simple answer to both your questions is 'Yes' in that you should not need to edit your UEFI boot settings for either of these tasks.

The 'however' part of this answer depends on your actual system and the hardware you have installed.

ATIH 2016 running within Windows 10 can backup your boot drive without issue because it 'sees' all the installed hardware through the installed device drivers that Windows provides.

ATIH 2016 standard bootable rescue media is based on Linux and may or may not recognise all of your installed hardware - the most common issue with the linux media is that it does not find either the installed internal hard drive or an external drive containing the image to be restored.

ATIH 2016 provides the means of creating WindowsPE based rescue media using the Windows ADK additional software that in turn provides a broad spectrum of device drivers for many common devices, but even with this you may need to add drivers for more modern devices.

See the Acronis Best Practises Forum which has a guide specifically aimed at helping with adding device drivers to WinPE rescue media along with much more valuable advice and information on backup best practises.
