How to force include certain types of files/folders in data backup

Thread needs solution

Seems like an obvious question but I couldn't find the answer anywyhere. I have some of my "data" stored in "system-like" locations. For example I am always working on a custom Excel/VBA add-in (.xlam extension) which I keep in I believe the proper place:

C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns

But that Microsoft folder doesn't get included in my Acronis data backup although some of the other Roaming folders do.

I can see that data backup provide an Exclusions option, but not and "Inclusions" option ...

Hello George,

What type of backup are you performing for your data here, i.e. disk / partition or folders & files?

Have you checked that your data path is not set in the list of Exclusions?

Can you post a copy of a Service_ log file for your backup task where these data files are not included?
Log files are held in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs - this may be hidden on some systems, if so, then change the Explorer View options to show hidden files & folders.

Be careful with Office and certain Microsfot files.  The are often loaded into memory until a physical save is made by the user.  Most of these apps have autosave features that can be enabled though.  When the autosave kicks in, it should save the changes to an actual file on the drive that would get backed up, but only if such as file exists in the folder.  Also, the exclusions don't backup files with ~ in the name (by default) so open files that aren't saved locally would get skipped.

As a test, I would check the file in that folder to make sure it exists and that it has been recently saved.  Then run a manual backup right after that time.  Mount the backup or double click the .tib afterwards and navigate to the directory and see if the file exists. Keep in mind that if the file/folder is hidden in the original OS, it will be hidden in the .tib as well.  Turning on hidden files/folders in the OS should allow it to be seen in the .tib as well.
