Acronis Universal Restore
I have Acronis 2016 on three Windows 10 machines. On one of them Acronis Universal Restore does not install and produces an error message saying that the installation package cannot be opened, and "verify that this is a valid Windows installer package." How do I solve this problem?
Thanks for your help!
John

Steve, thanks much for your help. Unfortunately none of your suggestions worked. Running a fresh download of the instasller as administrator produces an error message: "this file is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".
The antivirus programs on the computer in question are the same as the ones on this computer where the installer worked flawlesly. Incidentally, probably because the installer is already installed on this computer, Acronis won't let me download the installer on this computer for a transfer to the one that refuses it. And the Acronis program on the computer in question flashes that I have the latest version installed.
I just do not understand what is going on.

John, the error message: "this file is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" still suggests that the file you have downloaded is either being corrupted or the file extension is being changed.
You should have the file: AcronisTrueImage2016_ur_en-US.msi when downloaded, and if you right-click and take the option to 'Open with' it should default to opening with 'Windows installer' - if not, then your file associations are probably in need of being corrected.

With .msi installers, I will often open up a command promt buy running it with a right click and "run as administrator" option. I will then navigate through command prompt to the folder with the MSI installer such as this example:
cd C:\users\yourusername\downloads <enter>
AcronisTrueImage2016_ur_en-US.msi <enter>
By starting command prompt with admin access, it will give the .msi installer the higest access possible to install. With an .exe installer, you can just right click on it and "run as administrator" but this option does not show up for a .msi installer so running command prompt as admin first and then the .msi through it produces the same results.
As for the download, if it's not working correctly, try a different browser (i.e. try chrome if you're using Intnenet Explorer or vice versa... I don't use Edge so can't speak for it, but either Chrome or IE should download fine if there is no AV software preventing the download for some reason.
