OS passwords

Thread needs solution

When I am doing a system or image restore of a backup that was made a while ago, does my system keep using my system password at the time of the restore or the OS password in use at the the time the backup is created?

Are there options to allow me to control this?

I have some backups made with 2014 as well as 2016.

Thanks

John

John, welcome to these user forums.

When you make a backup image, it contains a copy of your system as it existed at the specific time you created the backup, including any passwords used by the OS or other applications at that time.

When you restore that backup image, you restore also all saved information including passwords.

There is no option to change this behaviour in this or any other backup programs, as this password detail is kept in secure format in system files or the Windows Registry.  You will need to keep a note of your passwords separately if these are being changed on a regular basis.
