"Mysterious" Acronis tray icon ... what is it?
Hi,
Suddenly, an Aconis icon for True Image Home appeared in my system tray, near the clock. There is a blue progress bar as part of this icon that constantly moves. There is no Exit in its menu and I can't find it listed in System Explorer or Startups. I have WinXP SP3 up-to-date.
I have attached an image of it. There is no popup description when I hover over it. I found nothing specific to this icon in Users Manual or these Forums. Right-click only shows a brief menu of 4 items:
Status |
Cancel(grayed out) |
Priority(low, normal, high) |
About
When I double-click, it opens up Acronis True Image Home to its Home page.
Anybody know what purpose this icon is? I'd like to disable it and save resources unless it is needed.
Thanks!
John

Hello John,
Let me help you and resolve the issue.
Unfortunately, the .doc file you've attached is corrupted for some reasons, so I can't see what icon you have in the system tray. Could you please create a screen shot and attach it to this thread?
- On the keyboard, hit ALT-Print Screen to capture full screen, or CTRL-Print Screen to capture the active window;
- Start any graphic editor. For example:
- Windows 2000/2003/XP: Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint
- Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7: Start -> type in paint and hit Enter
- On the keyboard, hit CTRL-V to paste the screenshot in the editor;
- Save the screenshot in PNG.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.
Thank you.

Ilya,
Thank you for the reply and consideration. Over the weekend, the mysterious icon disappeared and has not shown up again after multiple restarts. I have no clue if I did something that made it disappear or not, as I did not use or access Acronis Home until late last night.
If it returns again, I will Reply with the appropriate .png graphic capture.
Thank you.
John

Were the icon looking like the one I've attached in this post?

Martin,
Yes! That is the icon. What is that icon all about?
Thanks.

Hi again John :)
Here it's shown only when the backup service is running. It's a shortcut to use for either seeing the current progress of the backup, or to Cancel the backup operation. You can also change the backupprocess priority from low to high. At high, it will complete faster, but your computer will be running slower while the backup is running :)
The file is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\TrueImageMonitor.exe
I don't know if it can be disabled, but it probably can somehow :)
