Not recovering entire disc

Thread needs solution

Having made an entire disc image I decided to try a recovery to make sure the image worked only to find that when true image restarts the computer it boots into windows and not into the recovery. Twice I have contacted support and twice made sure that safe boot is disabled only for them to tell me to use the boot media to recover from and not from inside the true image software. When I challenged that they could not answer. Does anyone know what is wrong befor I claim a refund.

scoz, how are you trying to do this recovery?  It sounds like you are doing this from within Windows, which is not recommended as it requires that your Windows boot configuration is changed to boot into a temporary Linux OS environment from which to launch the Acronis application and do the recovery.

If your system uses EFI and has Secure Boot enabled then it may not permit it to boot to the Linux environment.

The correct way to approach a disk recovery is to first create the Acronis bootable Rescue Media and attempt to boot from this first.  This will prove if you can boot using the standard Linux based media or not.  If this does not work, then you will need to create the Windows PE version of the Rescue Media instead.

Thankyou Steve you have just explained everything to me in a few words, trying from inside windows was the problem. Done it your way it has worked fine, your explanation was very clear for me.

Thankyou

scoz, glad to hear that the advice helped and your recovery has worked fine.
