Question about Acronis Backup for Android

Thread needs solution

Can anybody tell me if there is a solution available for backing-up the complete file system of an Android mobile device ? So I want to make a complete bit-by-bit backup from my Android phone to one large ISO file on an external (USB)harddisk. The existing Acronis solutions only do file back-up to the cloud, and I want to backup my whole phone ( including OS ) to one large file. Just like good old Acronis True Image, not for Windows, but for Android. Is such a package available via Acronis ? ( Sorry for the bad English ) Grtz, Rene, the Netherlands.

Hi Rene,

thank you for your question!

I'm afraid there is no such solution among Acronis products at the moment. However, I'll certainly share your feedback with development so that it gets considered for future products.

Thank you,

I cannot speak from personal experience (I have never seriously tried to gain root-access to my phone), but ever since I started using Android devices, the most touted solution for backing up your device have been Titanium Backup. I found thise write-up http://www.howtogeek.com/70715/how-to-backup-and-restore-your-android-p… which might prove useful.

With my Acronis True Image Cloud, how do I backup an Android device (Samsung S4) to a local device?  I assume this is done over WiFi.

My local network is very robust and my Internet upload speed is only 1Mbps.  Have 5 mobile devices that could take advantage of local backups rather than cloud services.

Hello Mark

Thank you for your posting! This information refers to Acronis True Image Cloud in general (this product can be installed on Windows, OS X or as a mobile application). Acronis True Image for mobile devices currently allows you to back up your data only to Acronis Cloud.  You can choose an Internet connection type for the data upload and download.

We also have a separate forum section Acronis True Image for mobile devices.

Thank you,

Are  there any plans (scheduled feature) to allow mobile devices to  backup to a local device?  Thus allowing one to keep their data local, both storage and transmission.

Mark,

Thank you for your feedback.

Right now we at the stage of research.

We haven't planned to release this feature at the nearest time in the future, but maybe something will change.

Mark,

In the meantime, most mobile devices offer a backup utility of their own (Samsung Kies, Apple iTunes, etc).  You could backup your device to the local system that way and then utilize ATIH to backup those directories (or your entire PC with that mobile backup data in it).

If your phone manufactuer does not support this specifically, then you can use the Android ADK (I'm assuming you have an Android Device) and these instructions to make a local backup:

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-create-a-full-backup-of-your…

There are also other backup tools specifically for Android in the Google Play Store (some require root access though).  If you have root access, Titanium Backup can backup your entire phone to your SDK card.    If you don't have root, I'd recommend MyBackup

Ultimately though, after taking those mobile backups to your SDK card, I would then advise to make backups of those with Acronis True Image for safekeeping and retention on your PC.

Do you have any suggestion for Android data backup ?

I have two way to do that ,

Way 1 : Using backup tool to back up them

Way 2: transferring phone data to computer for backup

I just have used the backup tool to backup  (Way 1), but i didn't succeed , some of these data that need to backup are deleted from my computer ,

So i am wondering if i should try a method way 2

I don't know if this tutorial will work (How to backup Android messages )

Hello!

Acronis applications can back up Android messages both to Cloud and to your PC (or NAS):

https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2018/index.html#…

Was there some technical issue when you backed up? Please, share your experience so that we could check what happened.

Hi all, I have Acronis TrueImage 1.01. installed on my QNAP NAS.

I have downloaded the Acronis App for an iPhone 7 as well as my Samsun Galaxy Edge 7.

Backup is set to automatic.

The iPhone backup works just fine, but the Android backup fails consequently at file number 1537 out of a total of 1867 files and there is no way to go beyond that point. Deleting the backup and restarting just brings me to the same point. and it fails. I suspect that the App tries to back up a file which is locked (in use) by the phone. However, I have not found a way to identify which file number 1537 is...

Any help is appreciated. A backup program unable to backup - is of no use....
