2011 - Change File Name

Thread needs solution

I apologize if this has already been noted in the forum.

If I have a backup process and I change the backup name, I would expect the file name of my backup to change, but it doesn't. The only thing that changes is in the name under My Backups. The original backup name get's created and then in some instances it gets this error:

D_Image_Backup Task is waiting for user interaction.
Description: Stage Description
Information: Cannot open backup archive on the specified device. Either there is no archive on it or the archive is corrupted.
Details: Click Retry to try to read from the same location. Otherwise, click Cancel to cancel the operation.

I wouldn't expect the filename to change, they are two seperate items in the task. The default task name is the filename you choose but that can be altered when creating the task.

I have changed the task names a few times but haven't had any problems. Have you checked that the destination is still as it should be?

I only see 1 place for a name and it is Backup Name - am I missing another place for a name?

Destination hasn't changed.

When you open the destination box you get a list of destinations and a browse option. Select browse and you get an explorer style dialogue where you can specify the filename. The file name and backup name do not have to be the same.

Just check that the device (disk) or partition is available in that list and that the filename is what you expect it to be.

Jan,
For the most part, my experience is rather than mess with editing a task to perform a change of name, etc. I just
Remove the task from the list and then create a brand new task with the name and location I want to use.
