New to Acronis and could use some help

I'm new to Acronis. After years of dealing with Time Machine on my Mac, I've finally found an alternative that gives me more control and more information about my backups.

Although I've been having some issues. I'm backing up Terabytes of data because I'm running a video marketing company. The backup is going to a NAS. I've been having problems with the backup running out of space. I'm backing up 5TB to an 8TB array. It was my understanding that old data would be flushed away to make room for the new data. But I could be completely misunderstanding this concept.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The method used in True Image is by default a version chain wherein a full backup of the data selected is performed first followed by an user defined set of incremental backups that once completes is repeated.  When the chain is completed then a new full is created however, the old full is not removed from disk until the new full is created (written) to disk.  Therefore, it is necessary that you have greater than twice the space needed for 2 full backups of the data on the target disk.
