Unable to start Acronis recovery stick without UEFI

Thread needs solution

When I create a bootable Acronis USB stick:

- Start true image 2018

- Recue Media Builder

- Simple (but Advanced with either PE or linux based result in the same problem)

- Choose USB stick and proceed.

I can ONLY boot from USB when I configure the BIOS to enable "UEFI" boot.

Is it possible to boot the USB so that it does not rely on UEFI/GPT?

The reason I ask this, is that I am now constantly switching between UEFI enabled and disabled with restoring images via Acronis and back to booting from the actual HDD.

Frank, welcome to these User Forums.

The ATI Rescue Media on USB or CD/DVD is capable of booting in both Legacy & UEFI modes, and in particular, for any restore / recovery activity of a backup of the Windows OS, this mode should match that used by the Windows OS, as shown by running msinfo32 in the field BIOS mode.

See KB 59877: Acronis True Image 2017: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media which shows screen images of the differences that can be seen when the media is booted in these different modes.
