Glen, welcome to these User Forums.

The settings on the Options > Backup Scheme page are where you can decide how many images are kept before performing any automatic cleanup actions.

There are 2 aspects to these settings, where the first is to set the size of a backup version chain.

If you use either the Incremental or Differential backup schemes, then you can configure to
Create a full version after every X incremental (or differential) versions.
This defines the size of the chain, i.e. 1 Full backup plus X incremental or differential backups.

Next, when you enable automatic cleanup for your backup scheme, then you will see further options about how to manage your version chains.

The simplest one to understand is:
Store no more than Y recent version chains.

Now the practical bit.  You backup storage drive needs to have sufficient free space available to hold your Y recent version chains of full plus Y x X incremental or differential files plus 1 more full backup (because nothing gets deleted until the next full backup for a new chain has been created successfully).

Example: a version chain may be a Full backup of 100GB size plus 5 x 20GB incremental files giving a chain size of approx 200GB.  If you say to store no more than 3 chains, then you would need 3 x 200GB plus a further 100GB in space to hold the backups, i.e. 700GB for that setup.
