My PC died yesterday, advice on how to prepare for UEFI/GPT configurations

Thread needs solution

My previous PC used BIOS and MBR, my new one will be a modern UEFI/GPT, How will the installation, image taking, restore and recovery media for TI 2018 differ from the previous setup, if any.

I am dreading this exercise, it takes me at least a fortnight with all permissions, serial numbers etc.... It is too late to produce a universal restore image and it is possible that would not work with the new, modern configurations.

Thank you kindly.

Hi @ Peter Ledden  ,

There is nothing written, where you need use GPT Disks with UEFI BIOS.

I have UEFI BIOS and all internal Disks are MBR. It is a Custom-Built Computer from scratch.

The UEFI specification requires a GPT style disk be used.

Thank you both. The techie managed to reactivate my old C: drive so I still have BIOS/MBR. I had to jump through hoops to activate Windows 10 and Office 2013.
