Error message when trying to recover backup from Acronis True Image backup 2013 plus from NAS drive

Thread needs solution

Hi - I haven't tried copying the file to the comp that has true image 2018 installed, only mapped the drive and tried to open it by double clicking, also tried mounting via right click context menu, attached are the error messages.  This is a backup of an external drive used in 2013 that was stored on an NAS drive.  So I guess the questions are:

  1. does the file need to reside on the system drive of the comp with Acronis installed
  2. is a file saved in acronis 2013 compatible with 2018
  3. is there any other trick to mounting this file and extracting selected files?

David, welcome to these User Forums.

I would recommend copying your ATI 2013 .tib backup file to a local or external drive then running a validation for that file using the options provided in ATI 2018.

KB 1689: Backup archive compatibility across different product versions - indicates that backups from ATI 2013 are compatible with ATI 2018.

Once you have the file on a drive available to your computer with ATI 2018, then open File Explorer to that drive location, right-click on the file and choose the 'Acronis True Image' > Validate option.
You can also try double-clicking on the .tib file and see if it will open and show you the archive contents and allow you to navigate through any folders etc.  If this is good, then you can use Copy & Paste to recover files and folders and copy them to another location.
