Folder recovery failed

TIH 2010, XP/SP3. A folder disappeared from my system drive and so I tried my first recovery via the program after about a year with it. Found the folder a couple of backups ago, unchecked everything but that folder, got the process going, waited several minutes, and then ok'd reboot. Folder still not there. Decided to do a system restore to be safe and copy the folder over manually from the backup drive. But I would like to know what might have gone wrong. Any ideas?

One thing that is disconcerting about the 2010 recovery process is, once the folder is checked and the next step taken, what's being recovered, or even a general mention of a partial recovery, is never indicated. Also in setting up a partial recovery, the lack of Select All/Unselect All meant lots of extra mouse clicks.

You should have been able to restore just the folder you wanted. Other options include Exploring or Mounting and copying the folder out using Explorer.

What folder were you trying to restore?

Did you try restoring back to the original location or to an alternate location?

Did you also try doing the restore from the TI CD?
