ATI 2018 Build 9660 Does not launch
Hi to all
Dell Precision 4800 Win 7 SP1 64, Samsung SSD Evo 850 Pro 1TB, Core i7 4910MQ, 16GB RAM, NVidia Quadro 2100M
Have been using ATI2018 since Nov 2017 and ATI2016 before that without any issues whatsoever...
Until last week. Then:
Double Click to start ATI, 2-3 secs of ring rotating, nothing happens...
Task Manager says AcronisActiveProtectionServive Stopped. I attempted to restart it, response is that it timed out
Services AcrSch2Svc (Acronis Scheduler 2 Service) and afcdpsrv (Acronis NonStop Backup) running
Same behaviour at Safe Mode.
Same behaviour with ATI 2018 latest Build and Trial ATI2019
Attempted Repair, Unistall and Install, Uninstall with CleanUp Tool and reinstall, Nothing...
Only managed to get it working by Windows system restore for just 3-4 days, and then same problem again...
No drivers updated, no windows updates appear to have taken place in the mean time
Got App Error Messages from event viewer for TrueImage.exe, TrueImageMonitor.exe, BrowseFolderHelper.exe and syncagentsrv.exe all of which report MSVCR120.dll as the "Faulting Module"
Reinstalled Microsoft C++ Redistributables 2013, nothing...
Thanks in advance

Steve,
Thanks for the swift response.
Chkdsk & sfw performed, all clear. In addition, Samsung Magician indicates Drive Condition Good.
As for the msvcr120.dll, found several (12) instances/versions of it in my system. One of them is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Samsung Magician and another in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\TibMounter64.
The one referenced however by the event viewer for ATI's Crash, is the one in Windows/System32 and last mod date is 5/10/2013 (part of the MS C++ redistributable package). Do you think replacing that with one of the others mentioned above could do the trick?
I also find it hard to ignore the fact that ATI worked again briefly after a system restore 3-4 days back and then start failing again. Do you make anything of that?
I upload a *.wer (renamed to txt) file pertinent to ATI's crash, probably it might tell you something about the cause of the issue.
Thanks again!

IOANNIS, one tool that you may like to try is found on the following webpage:
Visual C++ Runtime Installer (All-In-One) v56
This will uninstall all the current Visual C++ software then reinstall the latest versions of each that was removed.

Nope, that didn't resolve the issue either.
Does the fact that ATI worked for a few days after a system restore back to the same amount of days, only though to fail again, ring any bells??

Sorry but no, no bells ringing here other than to say that something is obviously changing in the time after restoring back, though short of leaving the computer disconnected from the internet to ensure no updates from that source, and running a full scan for any malware type infection, not sure what else to suggest here?

Did that... System Clean
Also got no more restore points to use... I am cleaning them leaving only the last one to save space, which is diminishing in prodigious rates, due to the increase of work files.
Also noticed that in the meantime (time between system restore completion-ATI working again and ATI failing once more) no Windows Updates, no Driver Updates, no Apps installation took place. Only changes in the system appear to be Norton Security Updates.
Driven by that, I removed Norton, and tried to Run ATI again, to no avail again...
After this, I have run out of ideas.
Ticketed it to support, since the same behavior is being exhibited by ATI 2019 Trial too...
I'll be back if I got any news...
Thanks Anyway!!!

Used this:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer
Looks like it provides a fairly good insight as to which apps are using which dlls...
Will not delve into it now, I'll do it maybe tomorrow, I'll let you know...
What seems to have grabbed my attention is that msvcr120.dll's in my system are used by other apps (Google Earth, Trimble Business Center, Logitech SetPoint) and are working absolutely flawlessly. Just an indication that it's an Acronis exclusive issue...
So how about moving these in System32??
Cheers
