ATI 2010 - Cloning Issue - SOLVED
I am trying to clone a drive to move to a new larger HDD from 250gb to 500gb.
I follow the wizard, using automatic mode with proportional partition increases, however when I click proceed, the cloning process starts but almost immediately asks for a reboot. After the reboot, it goes to a black screen and appears to do nothing.
Im pretty sure thats not the way this software is supposed to work, but I havent used it before.
OS: W7 Home x64
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Dan

Dan,
Definately try using the TI CD instead of letting TI reboot to do it. This gives you more control and also lets you see if there's a video problem. The "black screen" may only mean that there's a video problem (wrong drivers, for example). If there is heavy drive activity the cloning is probably in process.

Two problems: I dont have a CD drive, so I had to make an ISO from my desktop to install ATI 2010 on my laptop (Alienware M11x)
I made a rescue media USB, but that also goes to a black screen after it boots up.. This is getting quite rediculous
When the black screen is there (from reboot clone procedure) there is a lot of HDD activity... should I just let it go? How long should it take?
The original HDD has about 230GB on it, so Im guessing a few hours....

Have you tried the ISO version you can download from your Acronis account? It usually has more updated drivers. You can boot the ISO version from a flash drive using Grub4DOS (instructions can be found here).
USB is usually around 1-1.5GB/min, but varies greatly from system to system (especially where Linux is involved). If you figure .5GB/min, it would be around 7.6 hrs. So probably somewhere around 4-7 hrs.

Well it worked after all.. After the HDD activity stopped I hit enter, and the computer rebooted.. after loading the OS, Acronis popped up and said to finish a reboot was required. I shutdown, swapped the HDD's, and rebooted into the new HDD and everything is good.
Weird... but oh well thanks for the help.
